Have a taste of the tantalizing twenties.

What with The Great Gatsby coming out in December and the allure of the more glamorous times of the past, it’s no wonder that 1920’s-inspired fashion, jewelry, and interior design is on the upswing.  I know I have an ardent longing for the fabulous parties and unapologetic wealth of the roaring twenties. The 1920’s and subsequent Art Deco movement “look” consisted of elongated shapes (like the feminine silhouette), geometric patterns, metallic embellishments, and an overall subtle extravagance. For inspiration, take a peek at the trailer for the upcoming Gatsby movie, or even the latest runway fashions (as seen above).

If you really like the 20’s look, it’s fairly easy to create a whole space that looks like it’s straight out of the twenties. What’s not to love? It’s traditional, with its rich materials like leather, but yet contemporary at the same time, with its clean lines and geometric shapes, both featured in the above dresser and folding accent screen.

Or if you’re a fan of moderation, Art Deco accents and fabrics are varied and easy-to-incorporate. I love the colors on the middle fabric and the uniqueness of the lamp; both would look perfect in a hallway or bathroom.  All these furnishings give your space an exciting and lavish look; it’s no wonder they were called the roaring twenties!
